Where:  San Juan River, Navajo Dam, New Mexico.  This is just south of the Colorado border.  The closest town, (a real town) is Aztec, NM which is NW about 30 minutes drive away.

Fishing:  This is some of the best fishing water in North America.  It is common to catch 18” to 22” fish on size 20 to 26 flies & 6x/7x tippet.  The wading ranges from easy access to more challenging stretches along the river.  Seasoned veterans will get everyone started.  Bring your wading staff.

Dates:  Departing February 20th and returning February 28th.

Cost:  Cost is nominal because we share the expenses—estimated $600.  We carpool, double up in rooms and we bring most of our food with us.  Your fishing license will run about $25; available on-line or at the fly shop.  Special Note:  Drivers providing vehicles do not pay for fuel.  Guide service is optional ($275 - $355/day wade or drift) and I will be setting up trips as needed.

Sign up/Payment:  We are enrolling now; non-AFF guests are okay.  We have 8 planning to attend so far, but there is plenty of room for more.  Call or email Gary White; This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.             Payment:        By January 10th $200 reserves your spot

By February 1st $200 payment                        Paying all early is okay!!

By February 15th $200 final payment

Prompt payment will assure your arrangements for food and housing.  Extra funds reimbursed to you.

Food:  We are bringing home cooked, then frozen food with us prepared by Patty, Susie, and others--always great!!  We have breakfast, lunch and dinner, plus snacks and drinks.  Each pays for her/his own meals at decent restaurants while traveling (not always fast food).  We all share in preparing and cleaning up meals.  Plan to bring snacks to share on the road, and a dessert for dinner.  Bring your own adult beverages.  More later.

Lodging:  We stay at comfortable motels on the trip out and back and at Abe’s Resort in Navajo Dam, very close to fishing.  Abe’s rooms are clean, heated and fishing adequate.  Some rooms have small kitchen areas, which we will use as needed for food storage and prep.  We will have a common room with a kitchen and extra tables/chairs to accommodate everyone for meals and fish lies.  Housekeeping daily.  We normally double up but singles are okay and we adjust accordingly.  Space will not be a problem.

Travel:  We will carpool and several have already volunteered their vehicles.  We will rent a small trailer for much of the gear.  If you wish to offer your vehicle (4-door preferred to accommodate up to 4 people) let me know when you make contact.  We will travel about 13 to 14 hours the first day of traveling both ways.  We will stay in Bernalillo, just north of Albuquerque outbound, and just east of Oklahoma City on the return.  We will arrive at Abe’s about noon, so there will be time to fish before dark, if you wish.  All reservations will be made ahead.  We expect to leave Little Rock about 6 AM, perhaps earlier after we consult all the travelers.

Weather:  The last three years the weather has been cold in the morning, warming up to about 50+ degrees by noon.  No rain.  But no promises, so pack accordingly.  No bugs.

Call right away and sign up--

Gary White
